The Story of the Cracked Pot – A Profound Spiritual Lesson

An old woman carried two large pots hanging from a pole every day: one perfect, the other cracked. The good pot was proud of its achievements. The cracked pot felt useless and ashamed because it could only bring half the water home.

After two years of suffering, the cracked pot poured out its heart: “I feel so ashamed…!”

The old woman smiled lovingly and said:
“Have you noticed that on your side of the road there are flowers, while on the other side there are none? I knew about your crack and planted flower seeds exactly on your path. Every day, as you returned home, you watered those flowers. For two years I have been picking beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without your crack, these flowers would not exist.”

Brothers and sisters,
Each of us has a crack - a weakness, a wound, a sin, a limitation. Many are ashamed of it and want to hide it. But God, in His wisdom, uses precisely our cracks to pour out His grace into the world. Through our weakness, He makes beauty, mercy, and salvation bloom.

“My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Do not despise your crack. It may be exactly the place through which God waters the flowers in other people’s lives.

Accept yourself as you are. Let Christ work through your imperfection.
